Company History

In 1972, Forrest Reynard co-founded Dyn-Optics, an optical coating, fabrication, and electro-optical instrument manufacturer.  After 12 years of high growth, the company separated into two independent companies to better serve its distinct markets.

In 1984, Forrest incorporated Reynard Corporation in Laguna Niguel, CA to supply the optical industry with precision optical components and thin-film coatings.  After several years of steady growth and high demand for its optical products, Reynard relocated and expanded into its current location in San Clemente, California in 1991.  Additional capabilities and services were added, including in-house optical and mechanical fabrication, photolithography, assembly, electro mechanical design and a higher focus on custom precision optics.

Reynard has serviced diverse markets and continues to innovate in new and evolving markets (IR multi-spectral imaging, solar, and other green technologies).  Reynard has participated in high-growth, volume, and precision markets such as telecommunication, homeland security, medical, and military.  This experience gives us a deep understanding of the optical needs and environmental requirements of these markets. 

Reynard Corporation's premier engineers are experienced in the design of optical coating technology and in the manufacturing techniques that produce repeatable and dependable products.

With their internal world-wide sales team, domestic government sales team, and international representatives, Reynard Corporation's customers span the globe.

Our current 28,000 sq ft industrial building was custom designed and built especially for manufacturing high-quality optical components. The thin-film coating laboratory is located in 4,000 sq ft class 1000 clean room. The coating lab contains 20 automated vacuum chambers from 18” to 54” box coaters. The chambers are equipped with EB Guns, Resistance Sources, Ion Guns and planetary systems to produce the highest quality optical coatings. The optical fabrication department covers over 7,000 sq ft of space and can polish up to 30” diameter parts to better than 1/10 Lambda flatness.

Reynard Corporation was awarded its ISO9001:2008 Certification in 2010 and is also ITAR Registered to demonstrate our commitment to quality.  Our Quality Management System has improved our on-time delivery, reduced manufacturing cost and improved communication with our customers.
