Reynard Corporation is a key supplier of precision optical components to the Aerospace Industry. We understand the critical requirements and importance of designing and developing high precision optics for space applications in the aerospace industry. Optoelectronics and photonics are critical to visible and IR imaging systems are now also becoming crucial to communications systems on a variety of military platforms and sensor applications.
Highly sensitive scientific instruments must be designed for extreme environmental and operational demands for missions in space. For example, optical components (mirrors, gratings, and filters) as well as mechanical structures (mounts, drives, and mechanisms) are subject to extreme shocks and vibrations during the launch of a rocket. Reynard Corporation has developed mounting technique that minimizes these problems for optics.
In orbit or interplanetary space, instruments are exposed to extreme temperatures and hard radiation conditions. Reynard’s designs minimize or eliminate problems in deep space environments. Our designs are tested in-house per MIL-810 F for systems and MIL-48497 for coating durability and survivability. Many of our designs are currently operational in space environments, and have been performing flawlessly. We continue push the capabilities of thinfilm optical designs through internal research and development and external research partnerships.
