Custom Fabrication Optics
Reynard Corporation has a full service optical fabrication facility to meet your precison optical requirements. At Reynard, over 80% of our business is custom. In addition, we have one of the largest and most comprehensive selection of standard and stock precision optical components in the world. Reynard Corporation is the leading global supplier of optical components to the aerospace, commercial and military markets. We take pride in meeting and exceeding our customers' expectations in concept, design, engineering and fabrication.
We fabricate a vast range of custom and stock precision optical components. Along with the common visible materials such as BK-7, fused silica and colored glass, we are also familiar with a variety of exotic materials.
Exotic Materials:
- Amtir 1,2 & 3
- Barium Flouride
- Calcium Flouride
- Gallium Arsenide
- Germanium
- Indium Arsenide
- Magnesium Flouride
- Sapphire
- Silicon
- Zinc Selenide
- Zinc Sulfide
- Zinc Sulfide / Cleartran (multi-spectral)
We can also work with substrates furnished by the customer and we are continuously expanding this list to accommodate the ever growing need for materials of this type.
UV to IR
Reynard Corporation produces optics that range from the deep UV to the far IR. With our experience using materials from Magnesium Flouride in the UV to Zinc Selenide in the IR we can provide a wide range of the spectrum.
Galvo Mirrors
Galvanometer mirrors are used in various systems. Scanners and bar code readers, sweeping remote sensors, marking systems and laser light shows are just some of the possible applications. Mirrors are manufactured using BK-7, fused silica or silicon substrates coated with protected metal or multi-layer dielectric coatings. With our CNC machining capabilities, we can shape these Galvanometer mirrors to suit any application. Our Galco mirror coatings can achieve reflectivity of greater tahn 99.9% and are able to withstand the most rigid durability requirements per military specifications - including Temperature/Humidity and Salt Fog requirements per Mil-C-48497A.
Capabilities
Cutting: Reynard's diamond cutting saws can fashion optical elements into any size, with the capability of cutting parts ranging from 1mm to 300mm.
Grinding: Reynard's precision Blanchard grinders can grind parts from 1mm to 450mm. Our grinding equipment includes a 48" continuous grinder.
Polishing: At Reynard we have (3) 48" and (1) 96" CP (Continuous Polishing Lap) polishers. This equipment is capable of producing 1/20 wave optical elements.
Edging: Reynard's automatic edging equipment includes a Van Norman edger. Edging to an accuracy of a few ten thousandths of an inch can be achieved on lenses, mirrors and windows.
Beveling: Reynard's optical fabrication shop possesses custom-made beveling equipment capable of producing bevels down to a few thousandths of an inch on lenses, mirrors and windows.
Core Drilling: Our core drilling equipment can drill holes which are perpendicular or at an angle to the surface of the element, in glass, metals and ceramic materials.
Shaping: We have (2) Haas CNC's able to produce intricate configurations on various meterials.
Inspection and Quality Control: All parts are inspected by our careful quality control inspectors. Reynard operates, per Military Specification MIL-PRF-13830B and MIL-I-45208A. From incoming shipments to final inspection, the quality of material received and shipped to our customers is measured and recorded. Our quality control manager reports directly to the President of Reynard Corporation. Equipment used by our inspectors includes:
- A G Heinze Precision Microscope with CRT read out
- Fizeau Interferometers
- Nikon Autocollimators
- Optical Density Test Equipment
- Perkin Elmer 1710 IR Spectrometer
- Perkin Elmer 9 Spectrometer (UV-VIS-NIR)
- Salt Fog Tester (2)
- Thermotron Temp/Humidity Chamber (3)
- Unitron Tool Makers Microscope
- Zygo Interferometers
Our Optical & Mechanical Fabrication Equipment:
Our optical and mechanical fabrication capabilities allow us to produce a wide range of optical components. We have (3) 48" and (1) 96" CP polisher for massive optical elements and a Haas CNC mill for production items.
